According to the latest CBI \ AXA survey into absence in the workplace 175 million working days were lost in 2006 costing the economy £13.4bn with workers on average taking 7 days off sick.
For non manual workers an average of 6.2 days were lost with the most significant long term absence contributed to non-work related mental ill health. This includes stress, anxiety and depression identified by 74% of respondents.
